Unconfirmed reports have suggested that Tyronne Ebuehi has turned down his invitation ahead of Nigeria’s preparation ahead of the crucial World Cup qualification match against Algeria.

 Head coach Gernot Rohr rang the changes in the 23-man squad, handing out a maiden call-up to Dutch-based defender.

But in a statement on the club’s official website , Ebuehi declined the invitation, saying he will not be joining the rest of the squad for camp in Abuja as his club remains his focus at the moment

“I see it as a great honour that I am noted in my homeland. But at this moment ADO Den Haag requires my full attention. Especially now that I am settled in the team,” he said.

“Therefore, it doesn’t seem to me like the right time to travel to Nigeria for the match. I want to focus completely on the club but I certainly do not rule out playing for Nigeria in the future, the next time I’m called up.”
