A 47 year – old man, identified only as Nura, was beaten up by irate mob for allegedly stealing food inside a cooler at Kasuwan Dare area metropolis of Gwagwalada.
The suspect pretended to be assisting a food vendor bring down the coolers of her food out of a vehicle in front of the shop. When the woman’s attention moved away from him he ran away with a cooler which contained “Akpu”.
Unfortunately for him, the woman saw him running away and she raised an alarm. An eyewitness said, “It was when the woman counted the coolers and discovered that the one that contained akpu was missing that she raised alarm.”
The mob ran after him, caught him and pounced on him until he was rescued by some people in the area.The suspect who lives Old confessed that his four children have not eaten anything for the past two days.
Some good Samaritans wh0 heard his story were moves as they contributed 7,000 for him to go to the market and buy food items for his family.
The Gwagwalada Police Crime Officer (DCO), Mr. Philip K. Dogo, was not available for comment as at the time of report.
