A 19-year-old man, identified as Happy Okotie and a 25-yesr-old Kingsley Ebose have been sentenced by Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin, Edo State to six years imprisonment without an option of fine for stealing
The prosecutor, Mr. Patrick Agbonifo had told the court that the offense was committed on August 25, 2016, in New Benin, in the Oredo Local Government Area of the state. The duo conspired to commit felony on that day when they broke into a store owned by one Tessy Okpebiye where they made away with valuable items.
The stolen items were, one Nokia battery, two Samsung Galaxy phones, one laptop and a cash sum of N17,000. The stolen item was valued for N235,000.
According to the prosecutor, the offense contravened sections 516 and 411 of the Criminal Code, Cap, Vol. II, Law of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976, as applicable in Edo State
The presiding Judge Mrs. RacheaI Ogbevoen, who found them guilty on two counts of burglary sentenced them to six years imprisonment without an option of fine.
