One Tayo, an herb hawker was said to have been arrested by the police in Kubwa for allegedly hypnotizing his victim with a portion which was meant to cure pile.
Tayo alongside five of his accomplices was apprehended last Thursday after they had a fuss with the victim. The money was collected between July and December 2014.
A source who spoke under anonymity said the suspects convinced Adebayo Ibrahim, the victim to follow him to his residence in Zuba.
“When they got to the house, they recited some incantations and gave him something to drink. They also used razor and made some marks on his stomach and rubbed some concoction into it.”
The victim began to act according to the orders of the suspect after the concoction was administered to him, the source added.
“He sold his two cars and that of his wife, as well as his house and three plots of land that he bought for some people,” the source said, adding that the victim recalled depositing a total of N20m in their bank accounts.
Luck ran out of the suspects when he was seen by Ibrahim last Thursday close to Gado Nasko Way in Kubwa.As they began to argue over the money, the attention of people were called. Tayo was eventually dragged to the police station.
Confirming the incident was the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nurudeen Sabo who said that the suspect had admitted committing the crime. He also mentioned his other five accomplices in Ekiti state.
The case according to Sabo would be transferred to the state CID for further investigation.
