Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta, recently came out to plead with his fans not to vote for him at the just concluded City people Award where he was nominated for the category of Best Actor of The Year.

His reasons were based on the fact that award organizers in the country were not being credible with the way they give out awards and this to him was an insult on his personality.
Recently stressing his point home, the actor in a recent interview with Naija Show Biz, cited various examples where he was nominated in categories where he ought not to have appeared.

He added that the awards organizers go about including actors of different character into the same category and that ends up passing the wrong message to show that they don’t know what they are doing.

“I have said that most awards in Nigeria lack credibility and organization and I am not taking my word back.4 Years ago, I learnt comic actor Tayo Amokade ‘Ijebu’ won an award, now by all requirements ‘Ijebu’ deserves the award, but guess what?…i was nominated alongside ‘Ijebu’, Why on earth should i be nominated alongside a comic actor?.

“It is true we are in the same profession but the truth is our lines of acting are different, ‘Ijebu’ is about the best at what he does, I am not contesting that, but what we do is different.”

“Also in 2012, BON  Awards, gave me an award for the best supporting role in a movie where I played the lead, isn’t that just ridiculous? In 2013, Damola Olatunji and Gabriel Afolayan were nominated for promising actors, by YMA Awards.”

“Now , how on earth will Gabriel Afolayan And Damola Olatunji be promising actors now, these two guys have been at the game for long, don’t you know Gabriel Afolayan from the days of “Madam Dearest?”

“How can he possibly just start being a promising actor in 2013? Isn’t that just crazy? And apart from the years Gabriel has spent in the industry, have you seen him at work before?
Early this year, I was nominated for an award and I wasn’t invited, how will you nominate somebody for an award and not invite him and even inform him in good time about his nomination.”
