The erstwhile Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Dr. Amos Adamu has said that he would like Team Nigeria to depart earlier for the next months Olympic Games.
He prayed President Mohammadu Buhari to help to make sure that this happens by releasing the funds needed for the trip and other vital things.
“Team Nigeria members need to get to the venue of the Olympics early, that would go a long way in preparing the athletes and coaches for the challenges of the Olympics, since they didn’t embark on a comprehensive foreign training tour,” he said.
Adamu stated that any reason to call for the reduction of the number of athletes should not come up so as to avoid the wrath of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
