The entire residents of Pioneers Tekof Street located at Osapa London area of Lekki on the Island may be getting ready to engage the management of Jisaco Nigeria Ltd, a construction company situated at Olorunfunmi Street, Oregun Ikeja area of Lagos in an arsenal of legal battle for the abandonment of the road rehabilitation which is going to two years now if urgent attention is not done to the abandoned project.
The road which was said to have been en-marked by the Lagos State through the Ministry of Works, we gathered, was only worked on for a few months and after that construction works has since abated due to the lackadaisical attitude of the construction firm.
In a brief chat with one of the landlords of the neglected environment “since may 2006, Jisaco Company carried out some construction works on the street, in fact, some walls were grounded on this course but only for them to discontinue operation on the street a few months after the commencement of the project.
If you look around, it’s an eyesore that this kind of street that leads to 5th and 7th Avenues in Lekki is left in total shambles.” Right now, the Ministry of Works, department of Highway & Road Maintenance which awarded the contract to Jisaco, we learnt, has ceased to raise any dust over this issue.
Though, there are strong insinuations that, they might have been given a ‘kick-back’ hence the abandonment. For the entire residents of this dilapidated street, it’s always a sorry state whenever it rains as most of them fight nail and tooth to swim their way out of their houses. We are still digging further to unravel the mystery behind the abandoned project.
