Following the lack of cooperation of some Nigerian Universities over the ban of Post UTME, the Federal Ministry of Education on Monday sent a strong statement of warning to Universities to use JAMB scores to admit students and not Post-UTME.
The Director, Press and Public Relations, in the ministry, Mr. Ben Goong, stated that any defaulting institution will face the consequences.
He debunked the report that the decision reached earlier to cancel post- Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) was upturned.
Universities have no business with admitting candidates apart from the one sent to them through the appropriate authority, JAMB. The institution can conduct a physical examination of candidates by examining their credentials to ascertain authenticity and ensure unquestionable characters.
The ministry said, “All these should be done upon resumption. No university is allowed to have anything to do with any applicant who is not its student. Screening and registration are only for those who have been admitted by JAMB,” the ministry stressed.
