Anita Okoye, the wife of Paul Okoye, told us that she had quit her 9-5 job to work on personal projects. This should have been an inspiring talk but this was not taken lightly by a lot of Nigerians who didn’t see it as such. They strongly believe that she can quit and still live bigger.
She had said “Changes. This quote resonates with me because, at the beginning of 2016, I found myself unfulfilled in my 9-5.” she writes. “Life was a bit robotic, mundane, I felt limited. I never knew I would be an entrepreneur, but I knew I didn’t want to be sitting behind a desk all day. The creative in me wanted some shine and I had to answer.
Quitting my job, was a huge risk, financially and psychologically. I swapped my high heels & Blazers for sneakers and hard hats. I have no regrets, no looking back.
I’ve been taking it one day at a time, it’s not been easy, but I’m nearly ready to reveal my new projects.”
Hear what she was told “I beggi, you quit job! meaning watin, your husband get money so why you dey talk like say na hard diction you take, abi as you quit job you no de chop? You no de drive motor? You no de fuel moto? i beg, tell that to APC members”
Another slammed her “Not to take anything away from her, hers is a “controlled” risk. No be Paul Okoye wife again?? Original risk is when someone has no backup and takes the plunge. e.g A banker (with a wife and kids) with combined earning of #300,000 leaving his banking job (#200,000) in pursuit of his dreams with no guarantees of success/backup.
In all kudos to all business minded peeps.”
While the other said “Yeah. I am so inspired. Mtcheew. Nigerians, don’t go and quit your job in search of what you might really want to do. Hunger will wire you to death. This is how all these people have forgotten where they sit. They forget that the masses are in an alternate world where shit reigns and hell on earth by way of economic woes is real”
