Award winning African based international makeup artist, Bimpe Onakoya, was recently lucky to have escaped unharmed by men of the underworld when she and her hubby, touched down Johannesburg, South Africa.
The couple had arrived in South Africa and in less than an hour to their arrival, the armed robbers crossed their car and four armed guys came out with sophisticated weapons and robbed them.
She explained the robbers took everything, her makeup box, camera, international passport, 2 Mac laptops, clothes and many other valuables and now they have been left stranded without any form of identity in another man’s country.
After going through several processes to make reports to the appropriate authorities over there, Bimpe decided to report to the Police and the Nigerian consulate who have been very helpful and supportive.
In her words, “This has been one of the longest days I have had in a while! But you know through all, God always places help around for his own children. My hubby and I are fine and unharmed. Apart from some initial confusion, the Nigerian consulate has been very helpful to us. They have accommodated us, given us funds to buy phones and a change of clothes and even fed us. May God bless them real good. We are also grateful to the South African Police that made sure we were attended to, and the officer that also borrowed me his phone to make the previous post so that our loved ones will know the situation. We are moving past this traumatizing experience with thankfulness to God for allowing us to come out without lives. Thank you all so much for the show of love. We really appreciate you.”
