It was learnt that armed police officers had on Sunday marked off the headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja because of the “heated controversy “at the party’s national convention in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
The deployment was needful in order to install the breakdown of law and order in the event of a clash between the rival factions.
The officers were spread all around the premises of the secretariat.
Also, Ali Modu Sheriff, who sent an air craft to the ex-governors and ex-ministers , another faction of the party to come to the parties meeting in Abuja , a way of making them avoid the convention in Portharcourt, was sacked as the PDP national chairman, while Ahmed Makarfi, an ex- governor of Kaduna state, was chosen as the interim chairman of the party.
Sherif maintained that he remains the Chairman of the party as he describes the decision of the parties factional group led by Jerry Gana as null and void.
