Passage: Hebrews 13:2

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Message: Being Present

God has the greatest sense of humor, He doesn’t send things in a manner we would naturally receive them, because the natural mind is after doing things that propose a reward. Although, an angel wouldn’t come to you without a purpose for your good, God desires that we love one another without conditions.

A major problem, however, isn’t in regards to selfish intent, but technology, which ought to serve our good, has disengaged us from one another. We spend an unhealthy amount of time looking down on our phones, rather than being present to what’s happening around us. So we’re unable to engage with people because we’re not even aware of their presence.

As we begin the week, let’s be intentional about being engaged. Look to the person sleeping on the streets, find out their name, ask about their story, and help them with food or a blanket.

Their condition doesn’t define them. Jesus performed a lot of miracles on those that lived on the streets; their lives carried a powerful purpose.

I pray the desire for human connection is rekindled over our generation.
