Passage: Romans 8:10

“And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”

Message: Life In The Spirit

Death is the absence of life, so a dead thing has no connection to life. If in Christ our bodies are dead then our flesh can never lead us to Him. For this reason, in times of frustration and worry, we lack clarity, feeling disconnected from God as though He’s not speaking; yet He is, but a dead thing is unable to communicate with life. Frustration and worry are produced by the flesh, so Psalm 46:10 states, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Your ability to be still is a fruit of the Spirit known as “self-control” (Galatians 5:23). It taps you back into your source of life, source of connection with God. Self-control is simply to have control over your self, to not let your mind wonder in fear and doubt, but to put such thoughts in subjection to the word of God.

I pray we wouldn’t rest in the flesh, but the very things that cause a fleshly response would cause us to seek God in stillness.
