It has been 18 years since Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti, who we know as Fela Kuti left the shores of this world to the next world. Fela was born on 15 October, 1938. He was a multi-instrumentalist, musician, composer, human rights activist, and political maverick, before he was snatched-away by death on 2 August 1997.

To celebrate his 77th posthumous birthday, Yagazie Emezi, shares photo of the preserved belongings in Fela’s Kalakuta home, Ikeja, Lagos. It was the way it was when he died. Meanwhile, The celebration of the Afrobeat king, Fela is set to kick off in the United Kingdom this Friday, October 16, 2015.

The show tagged ‘Late at the Library: Felabration!’ will be held at the British Library in London.The night of music and dance will feature performances from Tony Allen who helped Fela create the afrobeat music genre.
