Lagos State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) will host the first ever security event tagged ‘Nollywood Security Forum’.
The seminar is aimed at discussing issues bordering on security in the country.
Chairman of Lagos AGN, Don Pedro Aganbi, while addressing journalists last week, said the movie industry is a creative industry and insecurity makes creative works less profitable because it diminishes patronage. He said the initiative was borne out of this.
“In close to three decades, Nollywood has positioned itself as the most viable information dissemination and imahe-making tool in Africa, as well as a veritable vehicle for social change, providing jobs for over 250,000 Nigerians, in all sphere of the production and distribution process,” Aganbi said.

The Lagos AGN boss also said the forum is themed ‘National Security, Nollywood and the Quest for a more Inclusive and Peaceful Society.’
Aganbi said the seminar will give the Nigeria Police to present their plans and policies and the private sector to opportunity to provide insights into challenges and possible role for Nollywood. He further said participants will have the platform to network with key stakeholders in the security sector.
The celebrated and highly intelligent actor said the event will also explore areas the police can partner with the film industry for effective policing which is an integral part of the broad based vision of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase to forging a new and robust relationship with community.
The Nollywood Security Forum will be hosted by Lagos AGN in conjunction with the Crime Reporters Association, Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria and the Nigeria Police Force.
