It was a drama of sort around 11.30 on Tuesday morning around Onikan area of Lagos State as a commercial bus driver attempted suicide to prevent his vehicle from being towed away by traffic officials.
The unidentified driver had created a scene when he pulled his clothes off and slipped under his Mazda bus to prevent the traffic officials from driving the vehicle away.
An eye witness, who simply identified herself as Tosin, said that “the driver was stopped by some Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA).”
The eye witness continued that, “nobody knew his offence. The VIO people just told the passengers in the bus to get off, insisting that they wanted to drive the vehicle to their office.”

She added that “People, even those who were not in the bus, and the bus driver begged these traffic officials but they insisted that they were going to drive the vehicle away.
“Suddenly like somebody who was obsessed, the driver became very angry and he was still begging at the same time, but he refused to allow his vehicle to be taken away,” the eye witness said.
She continued that, “he removed his clothes and went under the bus and remained on the ground, while the traffic officers ordered him to get out.”
The driver was said to have insisted on remaining under the bus as long as the traffic officers insisted on driving the bus away.
The drama and suicide attempt by the commercial bus driver instantly became a subject of spectacle as many people stormed the scene to watch the scenario.
