Yoruba actor, Rilwan Alesh Onilegbale, turned 45 on Thursday, June 4, 2015 and his friends and family members organized a surprise birthday party for him.

The Odunfa caucus member, who contested in the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, but lost to the eventual party’s candidate at the election, told newsmen at an event in Ikeja, Lagos that he will still try to contest for a position in the future.

He explained that his party never trusted him and said that may have been the reason why he was not given the ticket to contest in the election.

Alesh, as he is fondly called, noted that joining the PDP was for a good reason and stressed that nothing will make him leave the opposition party in Lagos State.

According to him, “Well, as we all know politics, it’s a game and they thought I was going to take their mandate and defect to another party. I think that was the major factor that really worked against me. They felt if I am given the mandate, I will defect to the other party which was not right.

“But as God will have it, I think that was my destiny on that aspiration that’s how it’s destined to go. So I’m not really bothered and I am not giving it up because politics is in me and I’m so much in love with politics.”

He further said, “I believe there is time for everything in life. My being in PDP is purposeful, it’s well thought of, well decided and if there is anything that is going to take me out of PDP to anywhere, I think there must be concrete reasons but to me, I am much comfortable.

“I’m not saying I cannot defect, but I can’t just defect from the PDP to any other party just for defecting sake.”
