November Records, during the week, refuted the rumour that Majek Fashek and Charles Novia are at loggerheads over the movie on the life of Majek being produced by Charles Novia.
According to an insider, what happened was a lapse of communication between both parties which has been sorted out amicably.
Our source reveals that Majek had issues on the flow of the script, afraid that some sensitive parts of his private life would be exposed to the world in the movie, especially the oft-long held view that he is addicted to hard drugs.
Majek himself has refuted this many times with statements that he has a deep alcohol addiction which he has been battling for years. According to Charles Novia, the script will more than anything else enhance the image of the rainmaker than pummel it. ‘I am producing this script with the utmost respect for Majek and will stick to the facts. Indeed, Majek is in support of this movie project and his permission has been obtained.
There are various story arcs to explore in this movie and what I have finally decided on will be the pivotal years of 1988-1998.’ Continuing, he said, ‘In the life of Majek Fashek, we are determined to be part of history as Majek will be the only African artiste, so far to have his life captured in a movie production.’
Charles Novia, who has stood by Majek for the past five years, said he will continue to do so because he passionately believes in the man and his music.
Presently, Majek is in Nigeria for a three-month concert tour at the behest of his new management company, E.J. & Associates, owned by a reputable businessman, E.J.
Agboniyama. November Records is in partnership with E.J.& Associates on this venture which will span 10 states, Lagos, Benin, Abuja, Warri, Jos, Kaduna, Port-Harcourt,
Yenagoa, Uyo and Enugu. The concert precedes release of Majek’s new album expected out soon.
