Bourbon, a France-based provider of offshore support vessels to the oil and gas industry confirmed that three kidnapped seamen from offshore speedboat Bourbon Surfer 1440 were released by the pirates. The ship was hijacked in early April and three seamen of Nigerian nationality were kidnapped in the Gulf of Guinea.

The company noted that the three crewmembers were kidnapped when the Surfer 1440 crew boat, was boarded off the Nigerian coast in the night of Wednesday, April 8, 2015.

While Bourbon refuses to disclose further details on the terms of the crew’s release, newsmaritime .com notes that the ransom had been paid to the pirates. The crewmembers were released after being held captive for over one month. Bourbon confirms that the kidnapped crew members are in good health without any injuries.

The Nigerian crew members were transported to the hospital in Port Harcourt for medical examinations. Bourbon’s Surfers are speedboats used to transport personnel and light parcels to and from offshore oil rigs. The company operates with more than 250 speedboats
