The messy divorce saga between John Fashanu, a former English footballer, and his estranged wife, Abigail Igwe, Joseph Yobo’s mother-in-law, has taken a new twist.
Not too long ago, reports about their troubled marriage hit the media worldwide and it was disclosed that a suit seeking to dissolve their marriage was already at a court in Abuja, which is expected to come up for hearing later in May.
In the reports, both parties made accusations against each other. While John Fashanu alleged his wife of doing women, Abigail claimed she caught her husband sleeping with two women, including their maid at home.
The latest coming from the case is the leaked conversation between the former Wimbledon FC player and Abigail’s friend.
In the conversation, John Fashanu boasted that the media is his friend, saying he pays someone N100,000 monthly to protect his interest.

“They will always say more because they are my people, because some of the boys I give them N100,000 every month to protect my interest,” John Fashanu said in a part of the leaked phone conversation with Abigail’s friend.
The friend rebuked John Fashanu for calling his wife a ‘les’, saying, “But uncle Fash, you shouldn’t have, I mean you are old, I mean you are matured man.” “Everyone knows Abigail is not a ‘les’, Fash, can you just counter all those things, please I beg you in God’s name,” she added.
“Yeah, ask her to counter her things first, that’s the thing you should be doing, please,” John Fashanu responded.
