On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. It is typically the well-attended Sunday service of the year for Christian churches.
Christians believe, according to Scripture, that Jesus came back to life, or was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross.
As Christians, we celebrate Easter for entirely different reasons than most people do. You see, about two thousand years ago, God sent His only Son, Jesus, to live a perfect life, and to die for our sins! But Jesus did not stay dead; He rose from the dead and the Christians are actually celebrating Jesus’ death for our sins and His resurrection. That is why many people call Easter, Resurrection Sunday.
As Christians celebrate this festivity, rather than make it a loud party, they result to sober reflection unlike the Christmas period where serious buying is done.
Popular fashion designer, Yomi Casual, has recently explained that Easter is not a celebration period where people invest their money on cloths and as such care less about dressing.
“Easter is not a period to be fashion conscious. It is the celebration of the death of Jesus Christ and so, people don’t pay much attention to fashion. They do wear clothes quite alright but they don’t go shopping for clothes like they would during the Christmas season. It is not compatible with Easter at all because Easter is supposed to be the period when people reflect,” he said.
