The debut edition of Airtel TRACE Music Star Competition has been won by Enajite Peters. The Sapele, Delta State-born dude was unanimously announced by a three-man panel judge; Olisa Adibua, Cobhams Asuquo and Lara George.
Enajite Peters was one of several contestants of the competition, which was trimmed to five finalists.
The selection was made in the presence of some celebs and audience including Ice Prince, Phyno, Vector, Falz, BOJ, and Joe El. This was held at Ocean View, Victoria Island, Lagos.
An excited Enajite said, “When my name was called as the winner, for that moment, I did not know what to do; it was surreal and happened so fast. I know this is the beginning of greater things to happen.
“I am thankful to the judges for every piece of advice and constructive criticism that will sure make me a better singer, the fans who voted and those that came out to cheer for me on that day. There is no way to thank them enough. The whole ‘Team Jitey’ are the real winners.”
Speaking after the event, the Managing Director, TRACE Nigeria, Sam Onyemelukwe said, “I believe Enajite, she has what it takes to be the Pan-African champion. Her passion and willingness to learn is super.
“There was this instance during Lara George’s performance that she came out to watch. I was impressed because this was at a period where she was supposed to be prepping herself for the biggest moment of her musical career. I wish her all the best of luck in Kenya.”
Enajite Peters will represent Nigeria at the Pan-African grand finale in Kenya in the quest to win the grand prize of a record deal with Universal Records and mentorship with Akon, a top American artiste.
