The Nigerian movie industry is presently being wrecked by piracy and many practitioners are having headaches about fighting the menace to a barest minimum. Pirates have continued to eat from where they never sowed.

In a brief chat with Encomium magazine, Nollywood actor, Sunkanmi Omobolanle, who is also the son of veteran actor, Sunday Omobolanle, well known as Papa Aluwe, said the industry is dying drastically because of the issue.

He also said that the discrimination in the industry is affecting the industry and would want unity to be embraced.

“They should kill piracy. Producers are no longer willing to pump so much money into movies without getting anything in return. If they don’t pump so much money into production, how do you expect the actors to feed? Piracy is doing a whole lot of damage to the business,” he pointed out.

He added, “We have this issue of segregation too. I don’t like it, if it is Nollywood, we should stand in unity and not say I belong to the Yoruba genre, I belong to the English genre. It shouldn’t be, we are one.”
