Just like the popular saying, “Old Soldier never dies,” could be the right term to use in qualifying former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo who just turned 78 years old today March 5.
Planning for his pre-birthday celebration, the former head of state went on the pitch to display his skills in football during a novelty match showing that he is still fit despite his age.
Obasanjo took part in a novelty match with staff of his Presidential Library and officials of the Ogun State government and reportedly scored two goals for his team.
According to facts on Google, Obasanjo was born on March 5, 1938, in Ogun State and grew up in Owu, which is now known as Abeokuta.
He ruled Nigeria as a military Head of State from February 1976 to October 1979 and as a democratically elected President from May 29, 1999 to May 29, 2007.
He was a founding member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but currently has no political affiliation after ripping apart his membership card.
