On Friday, 5th of February, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) held her monthly vigil, Holy Ghost Service, and this time around, there was a difference to the programme.
Politicians came calling as some men of God have joined the fray to scamper for political positions and the campaign strategies have been taken to the altar and God’s presence is another campaign rally.
During the service, the general overseer, Pastor Enoch Adebayo, fondly called ‘Daddy G.O’ called out the presidential aspirant of the PDP and incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan and opposition running mate of the APC,Prof. Osinbajo pray for them in their different quests in the political arena.
However, there are reactions to the heavy presence of propaganda in the spread of political ideologies within the temple as twitter is agog with angry comments about the diversion on to the grounds to the men instead of God.
See reactions below:
TETE, Timon Tamaran @T3official: “Prof Osinbajo brought people to distribute political handbills at the arena and car park tonight. Many of us frown seriously at this.
“On a normal day, Prof Osinbajo doesn’t sit in the front row…that’s reserved for the AGOs, SAs and GC. Why the special treatment tonight?”
Anonymous: “Baba was careful. He didnt lay his hand head like the last time. He know this politicians are just stubborn and selfish.
These politicians are just trying to put Adeboye under pressure to approve or support them, once they enter the office they run away as usual.
Adeboye is a man of God, but i pray God will help him to be careful with these politicians.”
This seriously begs for answer to the question that should politicians be SPECIFICALLY prayed for during service when they periodically visit our churches?
