A certain 29-year-old bricklayer identified as Ibrahim Tijani is presently biting his fingers in regrets as he is gradually paying for his grievous crime.
Tijani is being detained at the Ogombo Police Station in the Okun Ajah area of Lagos state for allegedly killing his 57 year old neighbour, Bashorun Okanla during an argument that ensued over fumes emanating from his generator.
It was gathered that the men reside at an uncompleted building in the Okun Ajah in Ogombo area of Lagos state.
However, trouble started when Okanla reportedly approached Tijani and told him that the fume coming out of his generator was disturbing him. The complaints resulted into a severe argument and the two men got into a fist fight.
Before anyone could stop the fight, Tijani, who rushed into his apartment, returned with a cutlass and attacked Okanla with it. He allegedly inflicted deep cuts in his victim’s head and hand. Okanla was rushed to the hospital where he died.
Knowing the consequences of his actions, Tijani immediately reported himself to the police, where he reportedly narrated what happened between him and the deceased.
According to him, “On Sunday, I turned on my generator and when Baba Ade (Okanla) asked me to turn it off, I refused. Then he used a stick to hit me and we started fighting. A neighbour came and separated us and asked me to sit down beside him. But Baba Ade still went and destroyed my generator. I became angry and went inside my house and picked my cutlass. I used it on him.”
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Nwosu Kenneth confirmed the incident and hinted that investigation into the matter is still on going.
