Top Nigerian gospel singer, Lara George, has revealed that she had to stop child bearing for six years just to work on her career.
According to the ‘Dansaki’ singer, her husband understood what it takes to make babies and to also work as a career woman. She disclosed further that the man initially supported the idea, but later got impatient at a point and got her pregnant again.
“Absolutely, for me and my career, making babies has to be something I would be ready for. We (my husband and I) couldn’t deny the fact it would have an effect on my career, no matter how you wanted to look at it.
“My husband knew the effect the first child had on me so we decided to space it. Just when he was getting impatient, God made it happen,” she stated.
Speaking about her choice of career as a gospel singer, Lara explained that she sees her style of music as inspirational, considering her background with her former music group, ‘Kush’, noting that music is something that can influence generations.
In her words, “I can’t imagine myself singing songs that will engender negativity in any form. I have children and I want them to listen to songs that will spur them to greater things, not songs that will encourage them to do wrong.”© 2014Nigeriafilms.com
