‘Retiring’ Nigerian rapper, music producer and Architect, Eldee, over the weekend, took to social media to share his views about ‘runs girls’, a term used in Nigeria to describe women of easy virtues, and the role they play as role models to younger girls.
He shared his message on Instagram and Twitter saying “A ‘Runs Girl’ Aint Nothing but a High Priced Prostit*te, Stop Celebrating These Hoes & Making Them Role Models for Young Girls.”
He then added to his Instagram post, ‘#tellitlikeitis #AshawoNobework Stop encouraging little girls to sell their bodies for electronic gadgets, plane tickets, and designer bags, just to be able to flex on Instagram. Our society now condones prostitution so long as you’re not standing on the road, but a whore is a whore, whether for N500 or a Birkin bag.

#ThereAreNobleAndLessDestructiveWaysToEarnALiving Anyway sha, I no holy pass anybody, I jus dey observe, and I get loud speaker.’
In a contrast reaction, some of his followers used his comment section to express their thoughts and blasted him for being one-sided in his post.
“Preacher Eldee, the sugar daddies who patronise these girls need to be called out too. These girls make it seem as if a young lady cannot amount to anything or make money with her hand/head without sleeping around. Steady displaying their ill gotten wealth on social media unashamedly.
“They’re calling themselves stylists, MUAs, interior designers, upcoming actress and the most recent rampant one ‘entrepreneur’…..unfortunately tainting the image of those who are really striving to make a name in these industries.
“Who told you that opening a shop in Lekki phase one to sell accessories makes you an entrepreneur??? Is it the profit from the accessories that’s paying the shop rent, sales girl salary, your house rent on the island, bought your brand new car or paying for your vacations?
“Unfortunately this is what people appreciate and celebrate these days….designer shoes and bags. And the stuuuuuuupid men would rob these girls of their self worth and self esteem, feed on their confidence for filmsy thousands to millions of naira, and carry different diseases to their wives back home. Unfortunately this is the generation we live in,” an angry fan wrote.
“If Eldee was truly concerned about the issue Runs Girls and prostit*tes in Nigerian society, then he would have mentioned the ‘Johns’ who help to fuel the industry. Doesn’t he live in America? He doesn’t know that in other societies, the men who patronize prostitutes are arrested, sent to ‘John’ school for reform, and in some cities, their names are published in local news papers! Where is his rant about those paying prostitutes? Nowhere. Typical sexist nonsense,” another concurred.© 2014Nigeriafilms.com
