Bovi is one of the most sort after comedians in Nigeria today. He showed the potential of being successful in the entertainment industry during his acting days in television series. He held his audience spellbound and to some people today, they are not surprised that he is on top of his game.
The comedian has bagged awards and in this exclusive chat with Joy Akosa of Nigeriafilms.com, he talked about himself and other sundry issues.
Tell us a bit about your background?
There is nothing new. Like I’ve always said, I was raised from a decent home. I didn’t have everything but I didn’t lack any either. I have brothers and sisters. I was born in Benin and I grew up there till I was a teenager
What is your view on men who beat their wives, have you been tempted to ever hit your wife?
Men who beat their wives are not emotionally stable. I cannot hit my wife.
What is the craziest thing you have ever done to a woman?
I can’t think of one now, but I like to leave people happier than I met them.
Can you give a typical example?
None comes to mind now. I’m not doing it for me, remember.
Recently you met Dangote and other billionaires at an event, how was the feeling like?
I am a fan of some of them. So naturally, I was excited. The normal fan feeling.
Some of your colleagues are delving into politics, do you have such intention too?
Never, I can’t stomach it, especially the way it’s played here (Nigeria). It’s a do or die affair for many
Would you flee the country with your family if the Ebola virus spreads, God forbid
My family is very large. Like 500 of us. How do we flee assuming that’s an option?
How would you rate the comedy industry in its current state?
It’s fair. It could be better and it can’t be worse all at the same time
Would you support the idea of negotiating with Boko Haram for the release of the Chibok girls?
I’m not in government so I don’t know all the indices they have at their play. In matters like this, I let the government do their job. I don’t think I’d be generous for a politician trying to educate me on comedy
Do you think it is right for celebrities to show off their assets on social media?
Everybody has what works for them. As long as it’s from their sweat and it works for them, so be it.
Between women and cars which would you go for?
I usually go for what I need. One step at a time in life you know.
What is your favorite designer when it comes to being stylish?
I flirt with clothes. I can wear anything as long as it soothes me.
Which best dressed celebrity do you admire?
I admire anybody whose dressing gets my attention.
What is your favourite place to eat?
My room, no holds barred.
If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive, who would that be and what would you say to such?
(it would be) 2Pac. I’d say ‘I love you’.
How does it feel having an endorsement with Diamond Bank?
I have a cordial relationship with the company. It’s a symbiotic relationship.
What were your worse/best subjects in school?
Best, English and worst, Mathematics.
What’s your one annoying habit you did like to change?
Procrastinating.
How would someone get your special attention?
By doing something special, something that amuses me.
Can you give a candid thought on the crisis going on in the country now; Boko Haram and Ebola?
How can I know when I’m not a politician? It’s best we let those who are in that trade do their thing. I won’t appreciate a politician coming to lecture me on entertainment. When they are done, we can access them and score them.
Any words for your fans that look up you?
Stay positive stay out of trouble. Don’t do drugs and don’t cheat.
