The Lagos State Government has decided to promote its Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) initiative with the use of Nigerian celebrities, especially some of them that reside in the city. The state government introduced the programme to register those who live in the state.

But from the look of things, Lagosians seem not to have responded well to the initiative, and as part of efforts to ensure that all Lagos State residents participate in it, the state government has decided to use the entertainers for the campaign.

To this effect, the state government will host comedians, members of associations such as Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Association of Nigerian Theatre Art Practitioners (ANTP), and Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) as well as their families, who live in Lagos State to a special meeting, which would be addressed by the state Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fasola (SAN).

This is slated for Tuesday, June 3, 2014 by 10:00am at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.

Participants would be expected to bring along with them proof of residency as well as identification such as employee ID card, drivers’ license, international passport, national ID card, voters card, association ID card, utility bill or any formal document that indicates the holder’s address. These would be required for the registration, while two photocopies of birth certificate is required for the registration of children below the age of 16 years, who do not need to be present for the registration.

Also, to speed up the registration, bio data can be registered online before the event at www.lagosresidents.gov.ng and the print-out brought to the venue to capture the biometric.

According to the LASRRA, the purpose of the exercise is to provide the state government with accurate data for planning and development.
