The 2014 edition of Miss Tourism Nigeria beauty pageant has produced a new queen. Collette Nwadike, a 23-year-old lady from Anambra State, was crowned the winner of the beauty competition, which held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Ruby Gardens Event Center, Lekki, in Lagos.
The Miss Tourism Nigeria was established in 2004 to set the pace for beauty, intellect, talent and poise in Nigeria, in an attempt to raise the profile of the country’s tourism sector.
Fifteen of the 51 contestants with the highest votes, through SMS from members of the public, went through screening by carefully selected judges. Thereafter, five finalists emerged before getting the winner of the beauty contest.
Joy Arhwere from Abuja and Kebbi Mildred Odimegu representing Kebbi State were crowned first and second runners-up respectively.
Olawale of MTN Project Fame performed at the event, which had Denrele Edun, Jessica Kawra (Miss Tourism Ghana), Don Cross (up and coming artiste), Sonia Laryea (1st Princess-Miss Tourism Ghana) and others in attendance.
The show was hosted by the duo of Von Akpochi aka General and Shine Begho of Cool FM Lagos, while Brenda Nsikak (CEO Brendance and Crusader Ltd), Dozie Iwuchukwu (Creative Director-Television Host of Fashionista TV), Miriam Elisha (CEO Rikaoto by me), Mrs Ebere Chukwu (CEO Scintilla Limited) and Segun Oyeyemi (Face of World Nigeria 2007) were the judges.
