The Inspector General of Police (IGP), M.D Abubakar, has approved the setting up of a special police unit at the Abuja headquarters of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), following an appeal by the Director General of the Board, Patricia Bala.
According to the IGP, the objective is to enable the Board enhance its operational, monitoring and intelligence gathering activities in the course of carrying out its mandate of regulating the film and video industry in the country.
It would be recalled that recently an anti-piracy alert app was launched in Lagos that will put smiles on the faces of stakeholders in the software and creative industry.
This app was unveiled on March 21, 2014 at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac Town, where key players in the movie industry and the relevant regulatory bodies were gathered.
