Reports reaching Nigeriafilms.com from the capital of Edo State, Benin, where members of Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) are having their national election, confirms that violence has broken out.

Reliable sources told us that the election that ought to start yesterday evening resulted into a free for all fight by some members after the manifesto night.

According to an insider, some contestants called for the cancellation of the election because they felt a contestant had more chances to win the election due to his strong financial backing.

The contestant was said to have provided accommodation and feeding to some of his delegates.

But the National President called for two third majority votes from delegates to made calls for the election cancellation valid but that was not met as only 18 states out of the 27 states that brought delegates supported the cancellation move.

With this, the national president then ordered that the election go ahead.

Thereafter, as we were also told, some aggrieved delegates broke about seven eggs in the hall, which made the electoral body members run for their lives.

Some of the notable names in Benin for the elections were Zeb Ejiro,m Fidelis Duker, Paul Obazele (all as observers) while Justus Esiri was there as a voter.

We confirmed that some of the delegates have already left Benin while some are still there.

The election has been shifted about three times before now.

You will recall that Emeka Ike wrote the governor of Edo State not to allow the election hold in the state claiming it was an illegal election.
