Not many would believe that star actor and Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism,Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) was still able to pull the crème-de-la-crème of the society to Aladja in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State between January 20th and 21st for the final burial rites of his paternal grand mother,Madam Aiye Osanuvwe Damijo (Nee Akumakpene) who died a couple of months back at the age of 105(she was born in 1905).

The late women leader in Aladjja community (Ewheya of Aladja) had only 3 children in her life time namely Onajeria Damijo(male) Timeyin Oyeye(female) and Omatie Ayoro(female).

Among them,Onajeria Damijo was her only son and father of RMD.

It would be recalled that RMD had a ghastly road accident a day after the Labour led nationwide strike was called off,while on a special assignment in Delta State.

Although he received minor bruise but his driver was reported to have slumped in to coma.That was Tuesday 17th of January 2012.But those who saw him at the funeral on Saturday 21st,said the Nollywood star turned politician was full of life and welcomed guests to the venue with great enthusiasm.

His wife,Jumobi also contributed to the event by sharing note books,biros and other items for school pupils who attended the event.

Among VIPs at the event are; Honourable Betty Efekoda,Delta State Commissioner for Women Affairs,Bishop and Lady Evangelist Isaiah and Voke Willy (jp) of Beloved International Christian Church(BICC),Warri.

Others are Hon. Henry Sakpra,Dr. Grant Oyeye,Barrister Louis Omatie,Mrs. Grace Okobiebi,Mr David Timeyin amongst others.

Christian service was conducted at Catholic church,Aladja.
