CHETUMAL, Mexico — A woman was arrested after an attempt to sneak her husband out of jail in a rolling suitcase.
Police say the woman is the prisoner’s common law wife, and was at the prison for a conjugal visit.
Guards noticed something was wrong when she looked nervous, and her suitcase appeared to be “overstuffed.” When gaurds checked the bag, they found Juan Ramirez-Tijerina, curled up inside.
Ramirez is serving a 20-year sentence for a 2007 conviction for illegal weapons possession. Meantime, his wife, 19-year-old Maria del Mar Arjona, was arrested and may face prison time herself.
