Youths and students across the country can now have cause to celebrate as preparations for the 45th edition of Havana Music Carnival continue in earnest and a new date fixed for Friday, 17 June, 2011.
This is coming after its postponement last April, due to the general elections across the country.
According to Michael Dada, Executive Director, ZMC, the official producers of the event, “we are working round the clock to ensure that this year’s event is replete with all the thrills and excitement that participants have come to expect and more.”
Activities billed for the week-long event include mentoring session, walk for life, trade fair and exhibition as well as the grand finale, which is the Havana Music Carnival, that encompasses the Havana Queen.
Preparations for the Havana Train which will storm select campuses are also on-going.
The 44th edition of the carnival took place on 23 April, 2010 with a lot of pomp and exhilaration, while A-list artistes who have performed on the Havana stage in the past include the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Sir Sina Peters, King Sunny Ade, Seun Anikulapo-Kuti, Majek Fashek and Ruggedman among many others.
