She came, saw and conquered. This is the success story of one of Ghana`s enigmatic actresses. Ladies and Gentlemen, i present to you Kalsoum Sinare Baffoe. Having won everything in beauty pageantry both in Ghana and abroad, her trophy cabinet is certainly something to write home about. Miss model of Africa 1990[winner],Miss 2nd image [winner], Miss Ghana 1989 [runner up] are part of her numerous achievements when it comes to walking the runway. The screen diva has added yet another trophy in her cabinet and this time, its the ZAFA FILM AWARDS held at the Troxy hall in England some weeks ago. She took home the award for best supporting actress role in the movie TRINITY, directed by Pascal Amanfo.
Describing the excitement that engulfed her soul when her name was called, she said “The feeling was so awesome and i thank Allah for bringing me this far. To the other nominees, i believe they are all winners as well and better luck next time” she added.
Kalsoum entered the movie industry after she starred in “Out of sight, out of mind” in the early 90s, and ever since, she has never looked back.”I started with modeling in the 80s but i saw that huge talent of acting in me, so i joined the Theatre mirrors and this is how far Allah has brought me”. As to where she gets her inspirations from, Kalsoum simply said” Allah is my inspiration”.
With over sixty movies to her credit and still going strong, the screen diva says, she is hoping to raise the flag of Ghana and Africa high in the coming years through movie making.”Yes, if the chance opens for me to go to Hollywood, i will gladly opt for it but i`ll always come back home to help the industry” she added.
Speaking to your most entertaining Flex newspaper on the issue of coping as a wife and above all a mother, Mrs. Baffoe outlined. “Im married to Mr. Anthony Baffoe and we have three lovely children. Shaquille[14],Bukeem[12] and my jewel Keshira[2]”. According to her, she and her husband make sure that, the children are well catered for. “My children are more important to me than anything in this world, so i give them the necessary attention possible. Also, I have a supportive husband who sees to it that, the family lacks nothing” she added.
Fans of Kalsoum have over the years seen her play the “motherly role” in many movies but she had this for them.”Yeah, i used to play the “young and bad girl” role but im matured now and can`t play such roles anymore” she added.
As an entrepreneur who owns the Farikals beauty salon located at Labadi, Kalsoum says she is willing to work with any good movie director who comes her way. “I believe our film industry is growing and with good producers, artistes and directors springing up, the sky is just the limit” she told Anil.
Born to Alhaji Saeed Sinare Adam and Hajia Zainab, Kalsoum describes herself as a calm and God fearing person. “To my fans, they should continue praying for me for long life and I promise that the best of me is yet to come” she noted.
Kalsoum wasn`t the only winner at this year`s ZAFA FILM AWARDS, she won the honours alongside sexy and dynamic actor Majid Michel who is known for his bad boy roles in movies here in Ghana and in Nigeria.
