Streaming platforms boosted Nollywood’s growth – Rahama Sadau
Nigerian actress Rahama Sadau has revealed that the presence of streaming platforms in the country has contributed hugely to the growth of Nollywood.
In a recent interview, the Kannywood actress also called for more efforts in the industry’s storytelling.
She added that there is a need for Nollywood stakeholders to deliberately tell stories that will take the industry global, saying that streaming platforms have made it easy to sell stories to the world.
“The presence of streaming platforms has contributed hugely to the growth of the film industry at large. We are now able to tell our stories on a global scale, reaching wider audiences who can see and hear us. I think it’s an amazing development.
“I want to be very intentional about telling my own stories. As I always say, we’ve been telling our stories to ourselves for a very long time; now is the time to put ourselves out there even more. With platforms like Netflix and other streaming services, it’s truly a big plus for us.”
