I’ve always planned to become an actor – Basketmouth
Comedian Bright Okpocha, better known by his stage name, Basketmouth, has disclosed that his longtime plan was to become an actor.
The popular comedian who recently joined the acting industry with his debut feature film, Ghetto Love Story, however, clarified that he is not quitting comedy because of his new pursuit in acting.
He said, “In actual fact, it’s been a plan all along. I knew I was going to end up in the movies. So when I started comedy, I went to TV, and all along, I knew I was going to end up in movies. I enjoy making movies. So, transitioning was easy because it was already in the plan. I can make it because, by default, I’m already a storyteller based on the fact that I do comedy.
“Next year, I’m going on tour. I have my UK and US tours, and I’m going to have my show here in Nigeria.”
Basketmouth also revealed that he didn’t make his movie for financial gain.
“I didn’t do this movie to make money but to create art and excellence. But if it does, by the grace of God, I’ll make the money back, and if it doesn’t, I’ll challenge myself with this project.”
