Nollywood: Why female directors are on the rise – Patience Oghre

Nollywood director, Patience Oghre, has shed more light on the recent growth of female directors in the acting industry of Nigeria.

According to the filmmaker, female directors pay a lot more attention to details, giving room for them to grow.

Admitting that there is no gender difference in directing, the Nollywood stakeholder, however, pointed out that women have some innate abilities that help them pilot the affairs of their works and lives seamlessly.

In a recent interview, Oghre said, “There is no gender in directing. There is no special way a man would call a shot. If it is a close-up, it is a close-up; it is not a female or male close-up. But the beautiful thing about we women when it comes to directing is that because of the way we are wired, we pay a lot of attention to details. We multitask.

“There are some innate things that we have as women that make us stand out when we do our jobs. We go there, we want to finish and we want to go home. Some directors, when they finish, they still want to hang out. If you see a film that is directed by a woman, please grab your seat and enjoy it.”
