Chidinma Adetsina becomes Miss Universe Africa, Oceania
There was jubilation in Nigeria early Sunday morning as Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina, the country’s representative at the just-concluded Miss Universe 2024, was named Miss Universe Africa and Oceania.
Adetshina finished second behind Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig at the 73rd Miss Universe Competition held in Mexico, giving her the position of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania.
She is the first Miss Universe Nigeria to make it to the top 2 on the global stage.
Earlier, Adetshina shared her opinion on respect and being liked.
According to her, being respected is more important than being liked.
Adetshina stated this while responding to a question from a judge during the finals of the competition saying, “I feel like being respected is more important than being liked. We live in a society where we often don’t feel respected because of who we are, and I feel like when you respect yourself, you respect others around you and respect is really important.”
Adetshina won Miss Nigeria after withdrawing from the Miss South Africa contest after she attracted scrutiny over her nationality.
