Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat is dead
Popular Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso, is dead.
The singer’s death came as a rude shock to her fans, colleagues and the general public.
Confirming her death, Ilorin-based cleric, Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh, broke the news via his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning.
Also, Jubril Gawat, the brother of the deceased and a media aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state posted a terse tweet on Facebook, saying “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him, we will return. Q 2 V 156.”
Rukayat was well-known for her captivating voice, which resonated with many in the Muslim community.
Further details surrounding her death are yet to be fully disclosed.
