Onyeka Onwenu to be buried today
Nigeria’s music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, will be buried on Friday (today) in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The singer, who is known as the “Elegant Stallion,” died at 72 years old on July 30, 2024, at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, after collapsing at an event honouring Dr Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.
The family announced that the music icon would be laid to rest at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, followed by a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi.
Also, a funeral flyer stated that the Service of Songs is scheduled for 10 -12 noon while the burial, 2-4pm.
Onyeka Onwenu was not only a gifted musician with numerous hits but also a broadcaster, actress, politician, and activist.
She is survived by her two sons.
