A 17-year-old apprentice who was raped by a herbalist Samson Ogundele has revealed that he had carnal knowledge of her when she and her colleagues (apprentice) went to him for consultation in Ogun state.

According to the victim, her ordeal started after the sum of one thousand naira got missing in their shop. To find out who took stole the money we (nine apprentices) decided to consult Samson Ogundele, a herbalist.

“On getting to the herbalist, he started calling each of us into a room one after the other after collecting seven hundred nairas from us.”

After some of my colleagues entered and came out, it got to my turn. When I entered the herbalist raped me. He thereafter threatened that I will die if I informed anybody.”

Nigeriacrime.com learned that the herbalist met his Waterloo when of one the nine apprentices he attempted to rape was reported at Oja Odan Police Divisional Headquarters in Ogun State.

Sequel to the lodged complaint, policemen attached to Oja Odan division on the 7th of July 2022, arrested the herbalist Samson Ogundele at his residence in Referefu area in Oja Odan.

Confirming the arrest DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command said the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Oja odan divisional headquarters by the victim, who reported that she is a hairdressing apprentice and that a sum of one thousand naira got missing in their shop which made all the nine apprentices in the shop to consult the herbalist to know who stole the money amongst them.

On getting to the herbalist, he started calling them into a room one after the other after collecting N700 from them.

The complainant stated further that the first and second persons entered and came out, and when it was her turn, she entered and the herbalist tried to rape her.

Upon her complaint, the DPO Oja odan division, CSP Gabriel Ikechukwu, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was arrested.

It was why interrogating him that one of the girls who is 17 years old confessed that the herbalist had already had carnal knowledge of her when she met him in the consulting room. She stated further that the herbalist threatened that she will die if she inform anybody.

The victim was immediately taken to General Hospital Oja Odan were the Doctor on duty confirmed that the girl has been defiled.

The herbalist himself has confessed to the commission of the crime.”

Meanwhile, the commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
