Asa came into the music scene in 2007 with the single “Fire on the mountain” and has since maintained her place as one of Nigeria’s finest music acts and a great inspiration to the younger generation of artistes.
Her soulful vocals and timeless lyrics have been embedded into the very fabric of the nation, and her influence and musical prowess can be likened to those of Fela Kuti and Onyeka Onwenu, whose music, although many years old, never fail somehow to fuse itself into the identity of the average Nigerian.
Asa recently announced the release of her fifth studio album titled “V.” The album contains ten tracks including the recently released singles, “Mayana” and “Ocean” and is said to feature artistes like Ghana’s own, Nigerian sweetheart, Amaarae, The Cave Men and Grammy winner, Wizkid.
All the artistes involved have since taken to social media to express their joy. They stated how much of a dream-come-true it was to be featured on Asa’s album. A tweet from Wizkid in 2015 has since resurfaced on Twitter, where the artiste expressed desires to work with Asa.
Just like all of her previous releases, Asa’s new album promises to be a work of art that will not be forgotten too soon. Many of the artiste’s fans have expressed their anticipation and excitement at the singer’s announcement.
It has been two years since the release of “Lucid,” which was Asa’s last studio album.
“V” is now available for pre-download on Apple music, and the official release date has been set for February 25.
