Young Nigerian musician, Joshua Olonitola who is widely known in showbiz as Slim Joe has been confirmed dead after a prolonged battle with renal failure.
The musician reportedly died on Sunday, January 2 after complications with a kidney-related ailment, and he died at the age of 30.
Slim Joe broke into the music industry after the release of his hit single ‘O ti Yan Yan.’
Slim Joe is noted for songs like “Jekajolepo” and “Packaging” and also the “Jekajolepo” remix that featured music mogul, Don Jazzy.
He released several singles under his personal imprint, Yan Yan records include: ‘Bless my hustle,’ ‘Packaging’ featuring Don Jazzy and ‘Biliwo’ featuring Iyanya.
His death was confirmed by a Facebook user with the name, Kayode Jegede who claimed to be the cousin of the musician and one of his colleague, Raymond Gbaji
The post he wrote on Facebook reads;
“I lost a cousin, Joshua Olonitola aka, Slim Joe of Oti yanyan fame. Aburo, it is painful to lose a good brother like you to death at your prime of fame and age. You made an impact in the world with the very short time you lived, you were such a brilliant boy growing up then. We shall all miss you.”
