Actor and lawyer Kanayo O Kanayo on Wednesday presented his book The Testator to Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa during the Delta State Economic Summit.
While presenting the book to the governor, Kanayo said the book was one of the reasons why he read law.
“Your Excellency, I want to assure you I didn’t read law for a wrong reason,” he said.
Kanayo was called to bar last year.
The 59-year-old added that the book would become a Netflix movie in two years.
Delta politician Ned Nwoko, who also got a copy of the book, praised Kanayo for a “well-written” piece.
Mr Nwoko said in an Instagram post, “Kanayo. O. Kanayo came calling to present his well-written and highly commended new book The Testator and at the same time endorsed the malaria eradication project.”
He added that he first met Kanayo and his colleagues – Richard Mofe-Damijo and Eucharia Anunobi – 23 years ago when they paid him a courtesy visit in his London law office.
Kanayo had earlier presented the book to senior advocate of Nigeria Mike Ozekhome, actress Regina Daniels, and legendary actor Pete Edochie.
Anayo Modestus Onyekwere (popularly known as Kanayo O. Kanayo, born March 1, 1962 in Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria) is a Nigerian actor and lawyer. In 2006 he won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in the movie “Family Battle”.
Kanayo In 1992 made his debut movie appearance in the film Living in Bondage. Kanayo has starred in over 100 films. He was nominated in 2008 for African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in the movie “Across the Niger”. His most recent movies are Up North and Living in Bondage: Breaking Free
Kanayo hails from Mbaise in Imo State. He is the second son and third out of five children. His family bears the family name ‘Onyekwere’. He is a divorcee and has four children, two girls and two boys respectively.
In 2011, his mother passed away. During the burial ceremony, A-list Nollywood actors came to pay their last respects.
Later that year, he contested for the chair of the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE of Imo State under the political party APGA but didn’t win. He then proceeded to try again in 2019 but lost to Mr Martins Emeka Chinedu who is also his Kinsman.
He is not a social media persona as he said in one of his interviews.
He has featured in various Nollywood blockbuster movies which includes Lion Heart and Professor JOHNBULL where he portrayed the character of an intelligent and achieved educated man.
He is currently a United Nations ambassador and bears the title of MFR.
Kanayo was among various Nigerians honored by the government in 2014 during the centenary celebration.
He is a graduate of Law from the University of Abuja in the year 2018. He also finished his Law School from the Abuja Law School located at Bwari, Abuja in the year 2020.
