Nigeria/China relations got a boost with a call for filmmakers of the two nations to forge stronger ties for the development of their film cultures.
The calls were made by the Chinese Cultural Counselor to Nigeria, Mr. Shan Baoxing and Mr. Afolabi Adesanya, Managing Director, Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) at the opening ceremony of the 3rd Edition of the NFC/NFI Chinese Film Week, which got underway at the National Film Institute, Jos Plateau State capital on Wednesday, December 2, 2009.
According to Adesanya, NFC’s reason for the film week was to encourage and promote sustainable activities and programmes that will promote the film cultures of Nigeria and China and expose Nigerian film makers, especially students to emerging technologies of film making that meets globally acceptable standards. Adesanya thanked the Chinese Cultural Counselor for the Embassy’s assistance and support especially towards manpower/resource development at the National Film Institute, Jos.
Speaking, Mr. Boaxing expressed appreciation to NFC for providing the platform for the NFC/NFI/Chinese Film Week, saying that the Embassy hopes to sustain programme.
Highpoint at the opening ceremony was the presentation of film books, a DVD player, a projector and a cash donation. The film week ends (ended) on Friday, December 4, 2009.
