Jamiu Ayoade, a 25-year-old tailor was shot dead by a policeman, who is said to be a senior officer at Ijeshatedo Divisional Police Headquarters Lagos on Sunday evening, May 7.

People may want to hear that this ways done unknowingly but that is not it, this policeman shot the innocent Jamiu to death purposely and for no just cause.
The incident occurred around 8:28 p.m. at No. 49, Wosilat Daudu St., Ijeshatedo and also left two persons injured.

The late Jamiu with other friends was at a birthday party around that area when a group of policemen came in their van and observed what they were doing and left.

This must have been a relief to them but their relief was short lived because these policemen returned after a shot while.

This time, one of the senior police officer out of the policemen shot into the air expecting these youths merrying to scurry away for their lives but they stayed back.

This act seemed to have hurt the policeman’s ego which made him walk straight up to Jamiu sitting with his girlfriend and shot him in the head.

This is really inhumane. How can one heartlessly take the life of an armless and innocent person. We are yet to find out his reason for doing so.

The State Police Commissioner, Mr Fatai Owoseni,said that he just returned from his trip and was just briefed on the incident.

This case should not be swept under the carpet. Justice must prevail.
