A twin bomb blast occurred Tuesday in Damaturu Yobe state capital which claimed the lives of six people leaving forty-two others fatally injured.

The first explosion occurred at the Central Motor Park while the second one was set off along the Gashua-Maiduguri bypass in Damaturu.

The first explosion, which was executed by a female bomber, occurred at about 7:30am. She exploded the devise very close to a vehicle at the central Motor Park, claiming the lives of five people including herself. Toyin Gbadegesin ,spokesman for the police in the state said after confirming the explosion.

“The girl was accosted by those manning the entrance to the motor park and while they were trying to search her she detonated the bomb which had a major impact on an already loaded bus that was taking off.”

The second bomb exploded when the male suicide bomber was trying to board a commercial vehicle .

The National Emergency Management Agency has taken those who sustained injury to Damaturu Specialist Hospital where they are receiving medical attention.

The group responsible for the explosion is yet to be confirmed .
